Archive for October, 2009

I’m not sure if I’m too late on this or not. But here it goes. I had a great time! Thanks to all of the organizers and cheerleaders for their hard work.

1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
– Hour 18 – I fell asleep
2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
– Anything but Charlaine Harris or Agatha Christie
3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
– Well, did they not do the “Readathon Feeds” where every time a readathon participant posted an update on their blog it showed up on that web-site? They had it last time and I liked that a lot. I didn’t see the link to it this time.
4. What do you think worked really well in this yearโ€™s Read-a-thon?
– Everything
5. How many books did you read?
– 3 and a half
6. What were the names of the books you read?
-The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, Club Dead by Charlaine Harris, The Mystery of the Blue Train by Agatha Christie, Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella (half of it)
7. Which book did you enjoy most?
-The Book Thief
8. Which did you enjoy least?
-I liked them all if I wasn’t enjoying them I would have switched books ๐Ÿ™‚
9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next yearโ€™s Cheerleaders?
-n/a
10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
-Very likely. Probably switch it up next time 1/2 reading 1/2 cheerleading.

Love Agatha Christie, and I only once figured out who the murderer was in all of the books I’ve read by her. This was not one of those times. So I know I posted this late but I was having Internet problems (plus I thought I’d sleep a bit before posting so that the post would be coherent) I did fall asleep a bit towards hour 20 but woke up in time to finish the readathon. Unfortunately I couldn’t see how others did because of my crappy Internet. So now I’m going back to the readathon sign up page and am going to visit other blogs to see how people did.

Mystery of the Blue Train is going well but I have a feeling that I’m going to end up taking a short nap. Maybe a couple of hours and then wake up about 3 hours before the end of the readathon. Maybe I need to go outside in the cold to wake me up a bit.

Books read:2
Books finished: 2
Next up: The Mystery of the Blue Train by Agatha Christie.
Total pages read since last post: 77
Total pages read: 843
Total time reading:562 minutes

So I’ve just spend the last 20 minutes trying to figure out why my posts aren’t posted in order on my blog. If anyone else has a blog with WordPress let me know how I can fix it! Frustrating! So I haven’t accomplished a lot in the past hour and a half (stupid computer wasting my reading time!) but I did finish my second book. Hopefully when I post this it will be put in the right place. GRRRR!

Total reading time: 425 minutes

OMG The Book Thief was amazing. I haven’t cried reading a novel in a long time. I was doubting whether or not it was still possible for a book to make me cry. I’m really liking Club Dead so far as well. Off to eat some supper and then more reading! Wish me luck!

Readathon Update #3

Books read:0
Currently reading: The Book Thief
Total pages read 474
Total time reading: 290 minutes

Still about the same. It’s easy to get distracted by all the other blogs I want to visit to check out other peoples’ progress. It’s off now to have a shower to wake myself up a bit. I’ll keep playing my Pride and Prejudice CD so that technically I’ll still be “reading”

So I haven’t finished anything yet but I did have to take a 30 minutes break to wash some dishes. BUT during the dish washing I was listening to Pride and Prejudice (on CD) so I’ve been surrounded by literature since the beginning! ๐Ÿ™‚
Off I go!
